Join us Friday, March 23 for our official prom Meet & Greet at Phase One. Phase One is located at 525 8th Street SE, Washington, DC. The party kicks off at 9pm. This is a FREE EVENT, open to all. Come out to meet other prom guests, as well as our 2012 Prom King & Queen candidates. 6th Annual Capital Queer Prom

Play games of skill for a great cause. Good fortune is in your future!

We will be taking over the luxurious Almas Shriners Ballroom for the 2012 Capital Queer Prom. Almas Shriners is located at 1315 K Street NW, Washington, DC (one block from McPherson Square metro). Street parking is available around the venue, as well as several parking garages.

All prom guests will enjoy a fun-filled evening that includes a variety of interactive carnival games and entertainment, plus cocktails and canapés, music & dancing by DJ Nan, a sensational silent auction, and prom photos, all leading to the Crowning of the 2012 Prom King and Queen. Each guest will also receive a Capital Queer Prom Yearbook, as well as a gift bag. (Open Bar for the First Hour)

Please note if you are planning on participating in our silent auction, plan to cash out with credit card, cash or check, the night of the event with item in hand. Thank you in advance.

An ASL Interpreter will be provided.

 

Official After-Party at Cobalt DC

Keep the party going at Cobalt. Come out and enjoy two levels with DC’s best DJ’s. All prom guests will get free entry into our Official Prom After-Party. Cobalt is conveniently located at 1639 R Street NW in Washington, DC.

Are you Nellie enough? We are keeping the party going with our dazzling & delicious drag brunch at Nellie’s located at 901 U Street NW (2 blocks from U Street metro). Drag brunch includes an all you can eat buffet, complimentary mimosa or bloody Mary, premiere seating, performances by national drag queens, and a special prom treat.

Q: I am a member of the Deaf community. Will there be an ASL Interpreter at the event?
A: Yes, we will have a ASL interpreter at our event. We pride ourselves on making sure that everyone enjoys our festivities. The ASL interpreter will be at the event to help with any questions and to communicate our prom king & queen announcement.


Q: What do I wear to the Capital Queer Prom?

A:
The Capital Queer Prom is a formal gala where guests dress in formal wear, such as gowns, tuxedos, suits, and dresses.

 

Q: Do I have to have a prom date to attend?
A:
No, you do not need to have a prom date to attend this event. In fact, every year we get many groups of friends who come out to just have a good time. We encourage you to come out and meet new people.

 

Q: Can I attend if I’m under 21 years old?
A:
The Capital Queer Prom is a second-chance prom for the 21 and over crowd. No exceptions. ID’s will be checked at the door.

 

Q: Can I bid on the silent auction if I can’t cash out the night of the event?
A:
If you are planning on participating in the silent auction, please be sure to bring cash, check, or credit with you the night of the event. We cash out all winners the night of the event. You will leave with your item in hand.

 

Q: Can I get reimbursed after I purchase my tickets?
A:
Tickets are non-refundable after 3/1/2012. No exceptions.

 

Q: I’m straight, can I still attend the prom?
A: Of course!
Every year we have many straight allies attend this event. We boast one of the most diverse crowds in the city. Prom is for everyone!
